Cumulus Support

Regarding the data on the left side of the graphs. I had a .01 of rain yesterday but there was no scale on the left side. Just blank space. Shouldn't there be something there to correlate with amount of rain?
The barometer graph just has 30 on the left side. Is there a way to add more numbers to show long term trends?

Yes, the graphs don't scale very well for non-metric units. I think the rain graph is better when you've had more than a trace of rain - I think it has the same problem even with mm when there's only been a small amount. The pressure graph has scale intervals of 0.1, I think, so that looks a little bit better when you've had a variation of more than that. There's not much I can do, as they are very basic 'free' components and they auto-scale as they see best. I'll try to do better with some paid-for components in Cumulus 2, if I can raise the money (actually, even the free Microsoft charts for WPF and Silverlight are pretty nice).

Will Cumulus2 be a complete re-write with all new everything or just a big upgrade from the current product.

It's a complete re-write. The current code is just getting too hard to improve; I made a few bad decisions when I first wrote it - I didn't know what it was going to turn into. Hopefully this time I'll have learned from my mistakes. And I'll be able to make a whole lot of new ones

Just a minor point for great software - additional y-axis labelling on the left side would make the trends graphs easier to read but I guess that's purely a function of the graph module. Just a thought

The graph module does provide some control over the axis labelling, but I've found it quite hard to find settings for all units that work under all conditions, so the current settings are a bit of a compromise. If you do have any examples of any really poor ones, I'd be happy to look at them and see if there's anything I can do.

Thank you Steve Understood. The rain graphs tend to be very sparse on y-axis labelling but this has already been mentioned I think. I know these modules can be difficult - I used to program myself and have used them (or similar). In some cases I wrote my own but that's a lot of extra work. Unfortunately, my brain is not as sharp as it was and I now find these things rather too much

I see you're using Visual Studio 2008. I've just downloaded that and installed it and hope to get into a bit of programming again. I'm also looking into programming in the Linux environment. There's a lot of open-source (and free) software for that. My trouble is that I tend to take on too much for my age

I have to agree!!!!! I am somewhat new to all of this, but from what I have seen from what others are offering, Cumulus is the one that I prefer. MANY THANKS to Steve!!!!
