now what have I done?

The hard drive on my weather website desktop computer went south, so I found an old box with a good drive in it that was running XP pro. I reinstalled Cumulus on the new machine, went through all the setup, and plugged my WS 2315 into the serial port on the new (old) machine. Now, whenever I try to start Cumulus, I get a box in the center of the Cumulus screen that says "please wait." I've tried this several times and I'm still waiting... What have I forgotten or screwed up? Any ideas would be helpful. Diagnostics on the serial port itself suggest it is OK, and all the plugs seem to be tightly fitted. I'm fairly certain all the setup and configuration is as it should be. Thanks, Lex

Could you zip up and attach the files from the Diags folder, please? That should get us a bit further - at least we'll know whether Cumulus is talking to the station.

Was this a completely fresh install or have you copied any files over from the previous install (not from the dead drive, I guess!)?

thanks, Steve. no worries. the serial port on the computer was not sensing the connection even though it was firmly engaged. I just had to engage the connection while the computer was up and running. all is well in my world now, at least with regard to Cumulus. cheers, lex
