Cumulus Wind Graph

Post by William Grimsley »

Hi Steve,

Why is the wind graph in whole mph? e.g. 2 mph not 2.0 mph? I see no reason for it being like that as all the others are in whole numbers.

Is there a way I can make a graph like Cumulus' but with 2.0 mph instead of 2 mph?

Thanks,

William

Davis stations have a resolution of 1 mph for wind speed. Reporting wind speeds with 1 decimal place implies a resolution of 0.1 mph, which the station is not capable of. You should select "Round wind speed" in the stations settings so that your speeds are reported as whole numbers.

The grid lines on the graph are never less than 1 unit apart anyway, so even for other stations there's no point displaying a decimal place. Any other graphs which have grid lines which are always 1 unit apart (I can't remember offhand if there are any) could also be the same. If they're not, I certainly don't propose to start messing about with them just for this.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply.

I understand the concept of the Davis weather stations reporting in whole mph.

Should I round my wind speeds on my website, then?

Thanks,

William
