Cumulus Support

Just wondering, but my pressure is recording very high, especially compared to one a mile away as the crow flies. I'm showing 1040, while the one down the road is at 1019. Could it be possible that my pressure really is high and he's on the edge of a depression? I suppose it has to change somewhere but to be honest the difference seems a lot.

All other readings compare ok...any thoughts anyone?

The first thing to do is see if you are looking at the relative or absolute value - then you need to 'set' the calibration of your STATION console if you have not yet done that !

I've just noticed the pressure slowly rising in the last 24 hours. Its now steady at 1040, but all around its 1017.

So, how do I calibrate, if thats what I might need to do?

It's described in the Fine Offset manual. If you don't have one, there's a copy in the wiki: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Fineoffset_manual

In that copy, page 10, step 3, is the bit you want. Set your relative pressure to be the same as a known good nearby reference, preferably during a time of stable pressure, e.g. when there's a large high pressure area. But as yours is apparently a long way off, you ought to set it straight away to something more reasonable anyway.

Note: you will need to restart Cumulus to get it to pick up the change.

Don't know why I posted the same thing twice...my computer has been playing around a bit lately.

I decided, before I do anything else, I'd take out the batteries and the unplug the USB and reboot the computer, then restart it all. I now have a reading of 1013! I'll watch this throughout the day and see what happens. I'll report back later
