Cumulus Rainfall

Post by Neil1970 »

Hi, I'm sure this must have been asked before, but have been looking here for a an hour and can't find any help.

I had to do a system restore back to April 25th due to a problem with my laptop from my own doings

On restarting Cumulus it says rainfall this year to be 243.3mm
But before i did the system restore it was 222.9mm. If anything i thought it may have had a lower reading. It has yesterdays rainfall at 0.3mm, which was right.

What i'm asking is can i change the year to date rainfall anywhere in Cumulus or will i have to put up with it for the rest of the year?

Any help appreciated
Neil.

There's a year-to-date adjustment on the station settings screen, but it sounds like you want a negative value. Might work anyway, I'm not sure.

The annual total is calculated from the daily totals in dayfile.txt; you could have a look in there and see if there's anything obviously wrong - a duplicate entry, perhaps.

Your right Steve, a negative value doesn't work.
And today i put 222.90mm rainfall for 2009 in that setting but nothing happened, so i closed cumulus down and restarted it.
But when i opened it again it had added the 222.90mm to the 243.30mm and gave me a year to date rainfall total of 446.2mm
I tried a negative figure to try and get it back as it was, but to no avail. Every time i entered the negative value it went back to the previous figure entered, being 222.90

Yes, that's how it works. It's a year-to-date figure to be added to the total calculated by Cumulus, to be used when you start using Cumulus and you know how much rain has fallen so far this year. I thought that maybe you could use it with a negative value to subtract your 'extra' rainfall, but clearly I've constrained it to be non-negative.

You really need to look at dayfile.txt and see why the total is incorrect, if indeed it is.
