Cumulus Support

It is weird that apparently I am the only one complaining. Still, with latest Cumulus 1.93 and also with beta 1.94 I am experiencing the following issue:

whenever I try to change the "Station" configuration parameters (I am using a Fine Offset with UV Light Sensor) a number of these are automatically reverted to 9999 values by the program (even if I do not touch them). Namely "Pressure Extremes" and "Trans Factor" - actually if I try to edit these two using the GUI the programs hangs. I have been editing cumulus.ini directly. This also seems to affect "Calibration" options.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits.

Any ideas of what may be causing this?

Can you tell me what values you are trying to enter, and I'll see if I can reproduce it. When does it hang - when you try to enter the values, or when you click 'OK'? Could you also please zip up your diags folder and attach it.

Nothing special. Just 970 and 1040 for pressure extremes and 0.82 for Trans Factor. It does work if defined in cumulus.ini directly.

When I try to enter the values. I am never able to click OK.

What these controls have in common is that they all use the same third-party component, which automatically makes sure that you can only enter digits, and sets a maximum value (9999 for the pressure extremes, as you've seen). The max value for the 'trans factor' is 0.99, is that what it reverts to?

The 'YTD Amount' on that screen uses the same component, and you seem to have set a value for that; was that using the screen or by editing cumulus.ini? Similarly, most of the boxes on the calibration settings screen use the same component, and you seem to have been able to set values for those.

I wondered if it was something to do with your regional settings, so I changed to Portuguese but with a decimal point instead of a comma, like you, but I can't reproduce the problem. I'm still thinking that might be the problem, as if somehow the component thinks you're using a decimal comma.

Yes.

Everything by editing cumulus.ini. I have stopped using the GUI for this purpose.

Also suspecting that. But since I have changed the default decimal separator to a point, where does it get the "idea" from?

Some time ago I added some code to Cumulus which was supposed to fix that issue (thus not requiring the described work around by the user). I'll see if I can find anything about the particular issue that you're seeing.

I haven't been able to find anything. I could change the edit control that I use for another one, but it's quite a bit of work. If I knew for certain it would make the problem go away, I'd be happy to do it. Perhaps what I could do is just change the ones on the station settings screen for now, and if that makes the problem go away I can change the others as well.

I'm not convinced yet that it's anything to do with the regional settings, but it does make sense, as it's clearly not a common problem. There probably aren't a huge number of users who aren't using the default decimal separator for their region. But if this is the cause of the problem, changing the edit control isn't likely to help anyway.

I've uploaded a new build of 1.9.4 where I've changed the edit controls on the station settings screen. If you could give that a try, please, and it fixes the problem, I'll change all of the others.
