Sudden Change in the flyout menu display in IE10!

Post by William Grimsley »

Hi Ken/others,

I don't know how this has happened but for some reason (only on my PC) there has been a sudden change in the flyout-menu display in IE10!

My flyout-menu seems to display correctly on all other browsers on my PC and on all other instances of IE on different PC's.

I don't know if it's something to do with my PC display or something to do with the website but I wasn't editing my site at the time this happened and I wasn't doing any installing, either!

I've had this problem before and then it disappeared after several minutes but this time this problem is still displaying after a few days!

What has happened, is that the blue background of the flyout-menu has disappeared and the bottom link has dropped to the bottom of the flyout-menu.

Also, other things like border's becoming wider, the time and date at the top of the ajax-dashboard.php file has become one long word and the margin at the bottom of the page has gone, too.

This is what the flyout-menu looks like:

Please help,

Thanks,

William

IE10 on Windows 7 is a Beta not a final release which MS does not make clear. I had no end of trouble with it not doing things that IE9 processed perfectly correctly, from NAS dashboards to Jscripts. My suggestion would be to unistall it and return to IE9 which is what I did and all the problems disappeared.

Hi David,

Yes, Microsoft does not make clear of anything, these days! Ok, I'll go ahead and uninstall IE10 and return to IE9! :D

Thanks for your help,

William

Hi David,

Ok, I've now uninstalled IE10 and returned to IE9 but all the problems that I stated in the first post, are still displaying. :(

Thanks for your help,

William

Are you sure you uninstalled it, as to do so is not quite as simple as using the standard Control Panel facilities as it was probably installed as part of a Windows Update.

These instructions worked for me http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-R ... 8998.shtml

Yes, I'm sure I uninstalled it. Yes, I've done exactly what those steps on that website say.

Have you tried rebooting after the uninstall as setting sometimes get left lying around in the cache or try clearing the cache using F12 Cache / Clear Browser cache.

After uninstalling Internet Explorer 10, my PC told me to restart, so I clicked "Restart Now" and my PC restarted successfully. Then, I cleared the browser cache but that did nothing. But, then I found I was using Internet Explorer 9 Compaitibilty Mode! So then, I changed Internet Explorer 9 Compaitibilty Mode to Internet Explorer 9 and everything started displaying correctly, again! :D
