Hi Steve, I managed to get the transmitter talking to my consul again yesterday, but here we go again. This morning I'm getting Connect Timeout (error code 500) when attempting to ftp my data to web page.
If I have to reinstall Cumulus, assuming I've corrupted my copy, Which files do I save to ensure I keep my modded templates and recorded data please.
Thanks
Brian

Re: error code 500
This is an invalid port command being returned by FTP and as such is nothing to do with Cumulus, so don't re-install it.
Check you parameters in the FTP setup in Cumulus (Configuration / Internet Settings) and make sure you are using the default port 21 and that the login, host and password are correct.

Re: error code 500
Hi David, thanks for that.
All the settings are as should be, but I've just tried an experiment. I just switched to my alternative host 'qsl.net' and made a new directory (wx) I find I can upload my home page there no problem. Switching back to 'Virgin' in the ftp settings still refuses to play ball. Therefore I assume the problem lays with Virgin.
I'll give it one more try when I return from shopping, but if no joy I'll leave the home page (Which incidentally is the 'system' page, so updated every ten minutes by Cumulus) on the alternative host where I keep my ham pages, found here.
http://www.qsl.net/g0hdi/wx/system.htm
The other Cumulus pages can remain on Virgin.
I'll sort any necessary linking out later
Cheers David
Regards
Brian

Re: error code 500
Ok, I'm back home and tried unsuccessfully to access my space on Virgin using two different ftp programs. (Could not connect to remote site, warning). Wonder if they have discontinued offering this free facility to their broadband customers. Or maybe I'd used up all my allocated space...Probably, as I do have Ham pages on it too. Then again maybe a Klingon war bird has broken through my shields
Anyway, since shifting my car and brain in gear on the way to the shops, I realized of course, that If I did move I would have to move the whole site over to my alternative, and not just the home page. This I have just done, having to upload various related images and alter the page links to suite.
Hopefully that's the end of my problems for a bit. Time to put the fish and chips in the Halogen.

Had a quick Google of Virgin Media and FTP problems and there are loads of them, maybe it is time to move!!
