Cumulus/Instromet

Post by jdc »

I notice there is limited support for Instromet stations in the lastest release.
I currently have an Instromet station connected to Instromet's datalogger and software running on the same machine as Cumulus.
I now use a VP2 and Cumulus for recording and website with the 'old' station as backup/check.

Is it possible/recommended to run a second instance of Cumulus from a separate directory purely to log the Instromet station on the same machine? Just to, hopefully, provide some feedback.

Yes, you can install Cumulus again into a separate directory and use it with the Instromet; the two installations shouldn't interfere. Please do report back on how you get on.

John, would be interesting to know your Instromet configuration. Do you have wet bulb temp (or perhaps this input is in use as Temp #2?) or humidity sensor? And what about the sunshine hours sensor?

Apologies for missing your reply.

My Instromet station is fairly old (around 1998, I think - branded R&D Electronics!) and has a dry and 'real' wet bulb which displays as 'Aux. temp' on the Ultra Pro Display. These are in a Stevenson screen. The sunshine sensor is the central post type which casts a shadow when sun is out. It is mounted on the anemometer pole. The sensors link by cable to an interface box where the signal is passed to the display and the logger. I previously used the Met4Net software to FTP to my site, but used php to extract data from the text file in the manner I wished.

It was only the cost of replacement sensors and a desire to use Cumulus which moved me to the Davis system but the Instromet system is still logging in the background as verification.

Thanks. Unfortunately I think it's been established that the current Cumulus beta is compatible only with the latest version of the Instromet logger and not older versions.

Yes. A bit of a shame as I was quite looking forward to getting Cumulus running. :)
