Advice on which weather station to upgrade to ?

Hi,

I have been thinking over the past week or so which weather station would
be the next step up from my current FineOffset WH1081 station.

One of the main things is that I would like to have the base unit easily connect
to Cumulus, preferably by a constant USB connection to a PC, be wireless from transmitter
to base unit (so I don’t have to run cables from the weather station into the house), and not
be massively expensive. i.e. maximum spend of £250

Can anyone suggest makes and models of weather stations that I should be looking at?

I have had a look around the inet, but thought I would ask people on here who
have had experience with various weather stations and who could offer their advice.

Thanks

Mark

Cumulus is the sticking point. I don't think there is a station that works with Cumulus that is a worthwhile upgrade from a Fine Offset until you get to a Davis Vantage Vue @ £395 including logger.

I'm in a simialr situation to Solarize, but the rain guage sensor has packed up. I could replace just the sensor and stick with my WH1080 but... I would ideally like to add soil temp and sunlight/uv to the readings.

Do any systems do both of these ( I see quite a few do the uv/ solar bit)? Must do all the bits my WH1080 does and be wireless and be connectable to the laptop.

The Fine Offset 3080/3081 has UV and solar, but quite a few people seem to have problems with these (even more problems than with a non-solar Fine Offset). Other than that you're looking at Davis VP2 Plus, of the stations that work with Cumulus.

Thanks for that Steve, I like the Davis ones untill I look at the price!! If the Fine Offset ones are causing problems I may stick with what I've got and get a new rain sensor for £5.

Said it in a few other posts, but stay CLEAR of the U/V version of fine offset, it's nothing but trouble!
