The version of the converter on the SiLabs site works with 64-bit Windows 7, as in the FAQ. But the serial/USB converter is only for USB Weatherlink, and you have an IP Weatherlink. So you need the TCP/IP setting in the 'VP Type' box, nothing else has any chance of working.

The '-32701' error is the Davis DLL saying that it is unable to communicate with the logger. So you need to do what Cumulus is telling you. Are you sure you have set the correct IP address and port? Can you connect to the logger from a browser on the same PC? Do you have your router/firewall configured correctly to allow access to/from the PC and logger?

I went to the link for SiLabs, downloaded the file and installed it. I do not see the port. In fact, I show no ports in the device manager which I do not understand. I shot off a message to Davis to see if they have any ideas.

Oh yes, I tried the TCP/IP in the VP Type box and nothing works. I tried rebooting just to be certain, still nothing.

Sorry, I thought I had made this clear. You do not need the SiLabs software, you do not have a USB Weatherlink. You have to use the TCP/IP setting for 'VP Type'. You have to give Cumulus the IP address and port number of your Weatherlink IP. Nothing else will work.

And again I ask: Are you sure you have set the correct IP address and port? Can you connect to the logger from a browser on the same PC?

Have you tried connecting using the Weatherlink software? You will probably want to change the logger interval, and you'll need Weatherlink to do that. At the same time, you'll be able to confirm that you are using the correct IP address in Cumulus.

Yes, I can connect from my PC to the console as I can run the "Vantage Bulletin" and "Vantage Summary" and see the reading on the PC. Interesting as I never gave that a thought. See the attached Screen Dump of the TCP/IP test screen for what I am running into.

So you have Weatherlink reading data from the station? But what I'm asking is: can you connect to the logger using a browser? By putting the IP address of the logger into the browser? And can you please confirm that you have ticked the TCP/IP box for 'VP Type' in Cumulus, and entered the IP address and TCP port of the logger into the 'VP TCP/IP Settings' box?

Ah, so you can't connect to the logger using Weatherlink. Is that IP address correct - does it work in a browser?

The router says the setting are what was shown was in the previous screen dump. Yes, I can connect via my browser.

Now it is working! What I finally did was to reboot the router. Now the IP address has changed, so when I corrected that in the Cumulus configuration, it worked. The only weird thing to report is all of a sudden it is showing 3.68" of rain in the past hour. We have only had 4.13" all year according to my CoCoRaHS rain gauge. We have had nothing for the past couple days. How can I correct that reading? Also, what is the Discon Period?

As I've said many times before (and near the beginning of this thread), today's rain is always likely to be affected if you change stations. Use the editor in Cumulus to set today's rain back to zero, then correct your all-time and monthly records once the 'last hour' rain has reset itself to zero. The easiest way is just to stop Cumulus and copy the alltime.ini and monthlyalltime.ini files from one of the recent backup folders.
Also, what is the Discon Period?
It's described in the help.
