Donations to help Cumulus 2 development !!
I've just read the Cumulus homepage for the first time for quite a while and was stunned to see that while there are hundreds of users few have made a donation. I'd assumed most people would have for such a great piece of software. Many of us look forward to Cumulus 2, so come on guys and girls! If you are out there and haven't made a donation yet I urge you to do so - however small. Everyone will benefit. Steve probably won't thank me for this as he is too modest but he needs to know how much his hard work is appreciated.

Re: Donations to help Cumulus 2 development !!
I'm feeling a bit guilty now about using the word "few"
I've actually had about 50 donations, so not really "few"; more than I could have hoped for, in fact. And quite a few people have effectively donated to the cause in other ways. Most of the money I've received has gone on replacement parts for my exploding computer; it's just a bit frustrating now that I want to buy some software components for Cumulus 2 and donations have pretty much stopped.
Anyway, I don't like discussing this, so I'll get back to the software...

Steve,
Out of interest, how much would you need to do what you want to do with your computer and the cumulus software?
Thanks

Steve,
In version 2, Would it be possible to include an upload facility to Weatherbug?
Thanks

Re: Donations to help Cumulus 2 development !!
I looked at the Weatherbug site and I couldn't see how anyone uploaded their data to it. It seemed to be a commercial operation with their own set of stations, and they sell software to let you use their data? Or am I looking at the wrong Weatherbug?6719jason wrote:In version 2, Would it be possible to include an upload facility to Weatherbug?

There doesn't seem to be much information on their site about upload protocols, they just seem to want to send you to Ambient weather to buy a weather station.

Re: Donations to help Cumulus 2 development !!
Surely 'Weatherbug' should be under another heading - this rather detracts from the issue of donations to back up all Steve's hard work as put forward by Dave!
Cheers,
Chris

Yes, it seems you either need to buy a weather station through Ambient Weather and use thier Virtual Station software or if you already have a Davis station you can download a free Weather Bug uploader program. This free program only does publishing, it does not have a front end to it where you see your data, such as Cumulus.
http://weather.weatherbug.com/support/b ... tions.html Click on #5 and see where it says "WeatherBug publisher software"
I've tried using the WeatherBug Publisher software with my Davis Vantage Pro2 and it's buggy, I never really got it to work correctly. I also did this half heartedly since I'm using Cumulus and would of had to get that software to enable serial port sharing with multiple weather programs.

I also briefly tried uploading to Weatherbug with my Vantage Pro2 Station a couple of years ago, and found Weatherbug and any other uploading mutually exclusive. I kind of gave up on it. Not sure if things have changed.

Hear hear, I agree!! Steve shouldn't only be reimbursed for his expenses but should also be rewarded for the many hours of development and support he puts in. If you use it then donate otherwise Steve might go back to restoring his cars!dc1500 wrote:I've just read the Cumulus homepage for the first time for quite a while and was stunned to see that while there are hundreds of users few have made a donation.
