Are you sure that path is correct for the ftp directory? And you don't seem to have created the reports folder, assuming it's supposed to be in the root of your web space; http://www.kapo511.net/reports gives a 404

Note that a relative ftp path is normally safer, i.e. one without a leading slash, as it makes no assumptions about how your ftp space is configured.

Hi steve. Thanks for your advice. I changed that report folder in the root of my web site. And those reports seems to be there o.k? But I don´t understand what I should write in these rows? They are from include-NOAA-reports.php: (Or maybe I should write somwhere else something else??)

if ($Naming == 'CU') {
$cu_year = ""; // initialise Cumulus year file
$cu_month = ""; // initialise Cumulus month file
$cu_month_year = "";
$CU_year = array(); // storage to find first/last year reports on file
$validWX = true;
// have to wait to set ThisYearFile, ThisMonthFile until after the default timezone is set.
}
I`m really out about that now?

Best regards lost kapo from cold Finland.. :oops: :oops: :oops:

Now that the NOAA reports are in ./reports/ you only have to change Settings-weat.php from

Code: Select all

# For NOAA reports
$SITE['NOAAdir'] = './Reports/'; // relative location of the NOAA report files
to

Code: Select all

# For NOAA reports
$SITE['NOAAdir'] = './reports/'; // relative location of the NOAA report files
and the NOAA reports should work on your site. No changes to include-NOAA-reports.php are necessary.

*nix servers pay attention to capitalization of directory and file names, so the default of ./Reports/ is a different directory than ./reports/

Hi. Thanks for your advice.
Everything is like that, but no reports appears... I think that those PC:s hate me and make those errors on purpose, so I should be crazy... Is This realy so that I can`t get those reports visible? And I know that only fault is me.... Settings-weather.php. Some professional help needs here in Finland...

I see that your Settings-weather.php is now correct with ./reports/ as the directory specified.

I think you may have a damaged include-NOAA-reports.php script .. upload that one again from the CU-plugin.zip and replace the one on your website. That should fix the NOAA report issue.

Also, it is best to not use a cPanel file editor to configure/edit the .php files -- sometimes that editor defaults to saving the file as UTF-8 text which is not what the template set uses (ISO-8859-1 is the default), so make sure any cPanel editing saves the file as plain-text/ASCII and not UTF-8.

BTW.. I edited your above post to remove a cPanel editor link to the Settings-weather.php file .. having such a link visible on a public forum is just asking for some miscreant to use it and hack your website.

You are very welcome! I am always amazed and proud of folks who will try and succeed with installations where the documentation is not in their primary language, so congratulations to you for your perseverance and willingness to ask for assistance and follow through to success. Bravo!

Hi Ken.
A couple of questions again.... :oops: At the beginning, thanks for this template, this works and looks fine...
First question: Where has my "little" wind rose gone from the home page? What setting I succeeded to change wrong? It appeared yesterday, but today it`s gone again.... I`m really good in this mixing work... A little bit help would come in handy... :lol:
second q: Why my gauges link in menubar dosen`t appear in front page, if my settings in settings page at flyout menu is true, but gauges link is visible if flyout menu is: false.
And next: Where I can set fonts settings so that in my gauges page name font Ä is as it here in finland it should be... Now that Ä, and Ö appears as ? ..
Thats all this time. If You please should help me again and give some advice?? :oops: :oops:

The reason for the wind rose being absent is likely because you are running Cumulus with Finnish (Suomi) as the language, and many of the text items that are expected to be in English are instead in Suomi so both the translations fail (because the translation is from English to Suomi) and the wind direction is not reported using the English cardinal direction compass point (N, E, S, W etc).

Looking at your http://www.kapo511.net/CUtags.php?sce=dump shows:

$WX['avgbearing'] = '355'; // Average wind bearing in degrees over last 10 minutes. Range 1-360, 0=Calm
$WX['wdir'] = 'Pohjoinen'; // Average wind bearing over last 10 minutes as a compass point - e.g. ESE

and in CU-defs.php, the mapping is:

$dirlabel = $WX['wdir'];

If you still want to run Cumulus using the Suomi language, then you might try changing the CU-defs.php to have

$dirlabel = CU_deg2dir($WX['avgbearing']);

and that should fix the windrose display issue.
kapo wrote: second q: Why my gauges link in menubar dosen`t appear in front page, if my settings in settings page at flyout menu is true, but gauges link is visible if flyout menu is: false.
You currently have in Settings.php:

$SITE['flyoutmenu'] = false; // set to false to use the menu list inside menubar.php instead

which disables the flyout menu .. only the menu items that are inside the menubar.php script itself are shown (and never translated)

I suggest you change to

$SITE['flyoutmenu'] = true; // set to false to use the menu list inside menubar.php instead

and put the entry as <item ... /> in the flyout-menu.xml instead. Then it is possible to have automatic translation of the menu items to the target language (by having their entries in langlookup lines in the language-fi.txt file).

I see you fixed the issue with the wxssgauges.php page except for the legend where it says:

Sasema Laukaa, Vihtavuori

If you change your Settings.php

$SITE['organ'] = ' Sääasema Laukaa, Vihtavuori';

to

$SITE['organ'] = ' Sääasema Laukaa, Vihtavuori';

then the page will no longer have the funny characters showing. See http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_entities.asp for a list of HTML entities that can be used to replace 'national characters' and work in any character set.

Hope this helps...

Ken

Hello again

And now, after trying to make those changes, nothing worked anymore... I tried to remove this template from my webpage, and reinstall it, but now my index.php page is blanco!!!
I think that this template might be too difficult to me... (if I should be honest, those all templates might to be too difficult..) But I can`t give in, because this is very interesting hobby to me...
But now: Quite a big help is needed here in cold and dark Finland....
How can I get these pages to work again? It was so close yesterday, but too far away today..

My guess would be that you have deleted index.php, as what is showing now is the standard index.htm without any of the graphics and css styles, and looking at the previous posts you are running a php based site.

It looks like you have edited your Settings.php and saved it as a UTF-8 file .. it needs to be saved as ASCII/ISO-8859-1.
The UTF-8 marker before the <?php at the start of the file is causing a problem.

Then, change Settings.php

Code: Select all

$SITE['organ']            = 'S??asema Vihtavuori, Laukaa';
to

Code: Select all

$SITE['organ'] = 'Sääasema Laukaa, Vihtavuori';
and save the file as ASCII/ISO-8859-1 and upload it to the website. Your site should appear online again.

Remember that a single PHP error in Settings.php can cause the entire site to malfunction until the error is corrected.
