Snow

Post by grottem »

Hi

I live in Norway, and there - like so many other countries - we have snow.
Is it possible to get "snow lying" and "snow falling" from the weather diary into the reports (this month, this year, etc.)?
Have a nice weekend :D

Hi,
I have added the snow index's Snow On Ground with the <#snowdepth> webtag, and daily enter the amount of snow fall in the Cumulus main console on the computer's Current: field which is then the <#currcond> webtag. I have added this to my indexT.htm template which when processed by Cumulus you can see here http://www.komokaweather.com.

You could use the Current field in a different way but I am not aware that any other snow data is available for retrieving.
I have a manual snow index chart with daily snow fall, snow amount, and snow on ground for winter 2011-2012 and on-going for 2012-2013 and just seeing how I can get this as a separate page on my site.

Having figured out a way of showing snow amounts on my site we have actually had very little snow compared to normal last winter and this winter so far. But I have to do a little travelling in the new 5 days and, yes, it is and will be snowing so driving conditions are unknown.

Jim in Melita, Manitoba Canada also has some snow data on his http://www.komokaweather.com/melita page using the same webtags

I tend to concentrate on measurements from automatic weather stations, so snow is under represented in Cumulus. But the 'This Month' etc screens do already have the number of days with snow falling and snow lying on them? If you mean the web pages, that's not really practical at the moment due to the way the information is stored.

Thanks for the reply.
It was to show the snow conditions on the website (falling and lying) I was thinking of.

NOAA has an automated station a few miles from my house. I've been trying to find information about the technology because it collects and shows an amazing amount of information:

Especially as they seem to have put it in the middle of a river!

It's located somewhere on the McAlpine Locks and Dam facility.
