memory question

Post by dindsy »

Hi All,
I'm new to the site and to weather stations. I bought one on impulse from ebay because i like the idea of having a weather update to a web apge that i can see anywhere.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Wireless-Pro ... 4606fc4069

That's the unit. I'm pretty happy with it having had it set up a couple of weeks now. I'm also using the Cumulus software (and donated :) ) because it has the uplaod ability. I'm not a programmer but can bang out a bit of HTML so i have a home page and it uploads to that.

I have one question which is probably obvious. The manual with the unit is pretty crap and takes a lot of stuffing around to understand the thing given the instructions. One thing i'm not sure about is the memory in the receiver. It's filling up slowly (about 25%) now. Once the unit uploads to cumulus, is the data saved there? Can i delete the memory on the device and all will be well. (this may be a question for the cumulus page but seems to fit both spots).
I have other questions but will read more before i ask (eg. no idea what Dew point is  )

cheers,

You don't need to delete the console memory as it is just first in first out so datacan keep writing even when full.

Cumulus saves its own data while it's running, and when you start it up, it downloads the data it needs to catch up from the logger. You just need to make sure that you don't have Cumulus stopped for too long so that the data it needs gets overwritten; for example, if the station's logger interval is set to 5 minutes, that gives you 14 days. There's no need to clear the memory in the station, and in fact all that clearing it actually does is to reset the memory indicator.
