Can't get page to validate XHTML!

Post by William Grimsley »

Hi there,

I'm trying to validate my page: http://www.newton-poppleford-weather.co ... ecords.php

But, there is this error.

Code: Select all

Line 386, Column 3: document type does not allow element "p" here
<p>Records began on 25 September 2011. Here are the extremes recorded since the…

The element named above was found in a context where it is not allowed. This could mean that you have incorrectly nested elements -- such as a "style" element in the "body" section instead of inside "head" -- or two elements that overlap (which is not allowed).

One common cause for this error is the use of XHTML syntax in HTML documents. Due to HTML's rules of implicitly closed elements, this error can create cascading effects. For instance, using XHTML's "self-closing" tags for "meta" and "link" in the "head" section of a HTML document may cause the parser to infer the end of the "head" section and the beginning of the "body" section (where "link" and "meta" are not allowed; hence the reported error).
I've tried putting <object><p> and </p></object> around the code but that's caused many more errors. Then, I tried taking out the <p> and </p> tags all together but that again caused more errors.

Please help,

William

Hi Steve,

Yes, so I was using build 1054! Oops! I must have not replaced the Cumulus.exe file with the new Cumulus.exe file!

Also, the date format has turned back to dd/mm/yyyy and my page: http://www.newton-poppleford-weather.co ... ecords.php is now valid! :D

Again, thanks very much for your help! :D
