Hi all

My first post.

I have a SmartWeather WH2080 and just having a play around with the website feature of the Cumulus software.

I'm using a spare laptop which the weather station in connected to. On the same laptop I am running Apache 2.2 and in the httpd.conf text file I have point the webservice to the default directory that Cumulus installed in - C:\Cumulus\webfiles

When I try to browse to the directory I just get the plain text style sheet. I'm just wondering if something else needs to be done on Apache before it will work?

I would use IIS but the version of Windows I have doesn't have it as an "add-on".

I do intend to put this site up on some proper webspace, but just want to get it running on 127.0.0.1 first.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Robin

Cumulus doesn't copy the web pages into the webfiles folder. If you want it to do that, you have to tell it to do it.

You need to configure the 'files' tab of the internet settings to list all of the standard templates on the left hand side, tick 'process' but not 'ftp', and on the right hand side give the name of the web page that creates. E.g. for the index page, on the left hand side you need

C:\Cumulus\web\indexT.htm

and on the right hand side you need

C:\Cumulus\webfiles\index.htm

You can get it to copy the images into the webfiles\images folder by using the 'copy images to folder' box

You will also need to tick 'auto update' on the other tab on the internet settings.

Personally, I don't think using the Cumulus webfiles folder as your http root is a good idea; if I were you I'd keep it separate and copy the contents of webfiles to that location.

Hi Steve

I figured it out. I installed an FTP server and told Cumulus to FTP to the local host and upload them to a new directory.

Perphaps I could just it to "process" rather than FTP, would this do away with the need to transfer the files? Or for simplicity, shall I just leave it be for now?

You can use local ftp if you want, but Cumulus can simply copy the files instead. The advantage of the way you're doing it is that there's very little initial configuration in Cumulus; you don't need to use the 'files' tab.

Great stuff. :-)

Will probably have a few more questions, but thanks for coming back to me.
