Can I ask what others experience of Oregon Scientific's customer support in the UK has been?
Reason for the question is that the outside temp sensor on my WMR200 is giving wrong readings after just 18 months use (reading several degrees higher than it actually is). I have emailed their customer and technical support email addresses 3 times now, receiving an automated response each time, but so far heard diddly squat from them. Nearly 3 weeks now since I first emailed them. I refuse to call their 10p/minute helpline so am now having to draw the conclusion they don't give a stuff about their customers........hmmmmm, not impressed!

Re: OS customer support in UK
I have had a similar experience reference my query to OS about wildly erratic barometer readings on a new WMR88.
I emailed them on the 10th Jan, got an immediate acknowledgement saying my query had been passed to customer support but as yet nothing further despite a follow up email to them.
In the meantime I traced the problem to a faulty mains adaptor supplied with the station.

Re: OS customer support in UK
Hi all
Hooray, I'm not alone
. I emailed OS customer support on18th Jan and did eventually get a response on the 4th March. However, the guy just regurgitated general instructions that I had already tried. When I sent screenshots of the issue (my UV sensor would not register with the console), he just emailed back saying that UV in GB in Winter was zero so what did I expect.
Eventually just dealt with Customer Services but even they passed the buck as soon as they realised I bought their product from their main supplier in the UK - The Weather Shop.

Re: OS customer support in UK
And just by way of an update on my experience, I did eventually receive a response towards the end of Feb, AFTER I emailed their customer service in America to complain that UK customer service were ignoring me.
The response was a generic, replace the batteries, reboot the base station, replace the batteries again, move the unit closer, remove all sources of interference, oh and it might be because it is a bit colder in winter that your unit may not be as accurate...........!!!!!!! (I live in the UK, I don't think we get extreme cold here.....
)
I then received another reply a few weeks later apologising for the delay in responding (presumably one of my other emails suddenly popped up in someone's inbox), basically listing the same reset instructions.
So, moral of the story, buy OS and forget any chance of them caring two hoots about you once they have your money, and also expect to be treated like a dumb idiot (but maybe I am for buying OS in the first place
).

Re: OS customer support in UK
Hi
Considering the exchange rate to the UK at the moment is there any mileage in trying to buy direct from OS in the US. I checked out a WMR200 at about $230. Even VAT and postage should not exceed the UK price!
