Where can I find the Fine Offset with the new rain gauge?

I've seen this: http://fineoffset.com/rain_gauge_new.htm

It seems like that new rain gauge with a few improvements will be more accurate, but I can't find it in any online shop. Every shop seems to be still selling the stations with the old rain gauge.

Also seen this article: http://www.digitalham.co.uk/weather/equipment/wh1090/

Where it's said the 1090 has a newer upgraded screen but, again, it seems like shops selling the 1090 are still using the old console.

Do you know where the new versions can be found? (specially interested in the updated rain gauge).

It seems it would be possible to just replace the screen/funnel-piece.. If it was possible to get a hand on one, that is.

Or, the wall could be made taller by glueing on a strip of suitable plastic. I would have thought that making the funnel shallower would be a disadvantage as most other designs have deeper funnels as well as higher walls.

Not really - what you loose on one side, you gain on the other side. As long as the surface area of the opening remains the same, you should be good.

Wait - when you say "making the funnel shallower", are you talking about the funnel INPUT side (the higher walls) or the funnel OUTPUT side (the hole in the middle wherein the rain disappears)?

Not sure which post you are responding to but if it was mine then I may not have made myself clear.

If you look at the link in the OP, you will see that the 'new' gauge has the same internal works and the same external over all height. They have also explained the rationale for increasing the height of the vertical wall.

The steeper the slope on the sloping part the better as dirt/water/snow/whatever will have a lower tendency to sit on the slope. However water will arrive at the tipper faster the steeper the slope thus the inevitable compromise of slope vs tipper design.

Hence the suggestion to increase the height of the vertical portion by adding to it and keeping the existing steeper sloped funnel as the internal works have not changed.

I just got the AmWS-2080 which came with the new rain gauge, although it has not rained much here to try it out, it does come with the higher edge and leveling bubble. The real test will come when the heavy rains return. You might try ordering a rain gauge from them if that is what you need.
