If you click on this it takes you to that stations stats page and from here you may write a review and rate the site. The site rating shows on their button on their web site.

That is because the Ranking Method at present is set on Pageviews plus the Average.
So you will see they are in order of the Average.
This can be changed to Daily and not average if you think it would be better.

Thanks Jenny, you replied to a 'phantom' post (I deleted it after I posted as I realised what was happening). No problem with how it is set-up, the only potential issue is that people joining later have little chance of moving far up the rankings if it is based on an all time accumulative total. In a years time say they will always be a year behind the early adopters.

Following that last post asking for advise look at what is happening.
I am writing a help page and hence in and out checking I have it correct. Needless to say the page hits for Wairoa sitting on number one are increasing as I go. So yes this could be classed as cheating the way the settings are on Page hits.
Maybe it would be better to either count a hit off the click on the banner or a click on the button residing on the member web site.

Feedback please.

Is it possible to rank people based on a calculation of the No. of hits/views divided by the No. of whole days since they joined the site, which would not favour early adopters and provide a true average per day?

I am going to play with the settings but obviously it may take a couple of days to roll over each midnight to see what works best.
At present I have set it to keep the members overall tally in tact but rank in order of the days hits only. I wont know if this will work until after midnight as in theory us Downunders should drop to the bottom as we will be on day 25 (25th January) without any hits.
You in the cold up there should remain at the top with your Day 24 tally still in tact as the date changes ( for us that is )

What you suggest water01 would be ideal but I don't think possible with the settings I have to play with. However I will have this checked out by another admin.

Perhaps the ranking period should be a month? That way, new joiners aren't disadvantaged (for long) and it minimises the time zone issue.

I'd second that suggestion.

Would it be possible to provide an alternate button graphic for the website that will fit the Saratoga templates menubar and, one that is just a voting button - i.e. does not display all the stats on the webpage.

I just put my button grahpic into the footer.php file.

Much time was spent making this button by one of the other admins
We tried to keep it as small as possible so that it did not take over the bottom of the page but big enough to keep the font/text clear. Many buttons were made
This button is not considered by admin as a menu item but more a banner.
Our aim with the introduction email was to keep it as simple as possible for our members and 1 choice is exactly that.

However BCJKiwi I will check into the possibility of a small button for voting only as you suggest. Did you still want your ranking on it or just our sun icon. I presume you would still want 'Cumulus Top Weather Sites' on it

The other way you could do it would be to make your own button using the link we sent you but substituting your image. This would still register a vote. Imagination BCJKiwi, imagination

Good Day Steve,
As you know we are still playing with the settings to see what they will do to make as fair as possible

We have set the ranking period for 1 week as members join and scuffle around
From there we will alter to a Ranking Period of one month as suggested.
Meanwhile if any members have other/better ideas please let us know. All feedback is helping to run the Topsites as fair as possible
