Wind chill graph

Post by tomcatuk »

Is there a setting I need to make sure I have correct for wind chill, as just compared my outside temp graph to Steves where his is a nice up and down line and mind seems to take big up and down drops, never noticed it before.... Maybe it's just my wind excuse the pun... :D
You can see it here http://www.furball.co.uk/weatherlive/trends.php
Compared to Steves here http://www.sanday.org.uk/weather/trends.htm

See http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Wind_chill and your wind speed seems to vary quite a bit.

Here is my trends http://www.komokaweather.com/weather/trends.htm

I think you have to deselect 'Use speed for avg calculation' in the Settings page. It will then calculate a higher wind speed which will then make wind chill more representative.

If the wind speed is around 4.8 km/h, the answer is in the wind speed 'cutoff' as in the article that Paul linked to.

Thanks to all who replied, so nothing I can really do to 'smooth' out the graph then....

Is a 'pretty' graph more important to you than accurate data? I could put in an option to ignore the actual data and draw aesthetically pleasing graphs instead.

Hi Steve, it's just I never noticed the up's and downs before like that, so I wondered if I had not set something correct, as regards to pretty ones a nice shade of pink would suffice :D :D and as it happens we have no wind so no wind chill..... Just a lot of ice and snow.
