Thermometer radiation shield and a stuck screw

Hey all. I recently purchased a WS 2080A. I haven't had many issues yet -- but I'm definitely noticing that the radiation shield the unit comes with is not good enough to protect it from the sun. I get a several degree spike whenever the sun is shining directly on my unit. So, I'm going to figure out something to protect it from the sun without the huge radiation shield ambient weather sells (it's just way too big for my installation and not feasible). Any suggestions regarding that? As "easy" as it sounds, what about just covering it with another piece of plastic? Is the problem that the sun is somehow getting through and shining directly into the receiver?

While I'd like to move the thermometer unit, I have another problem. I can't get the screw out from the bottom where it is attached to the wing. It will only screw out part of the way and then just turn without moving. Any suggestions for how to get that thing out?

If you paint the Radiation Shield White then this will help, you will need a PVC primer first.
I have read that some people use adhesive foil, this is not suitable as it will discolour in a short time due to the impurities in rainwater, and the action of the sun.
What you have is a mini Stevenson screen...and these are white!

Re: the screw:

Take a pair or pliers and pull it outward as you are unscrewing it.
You may need a third hand to do this.
