Download Data Problem

I have been using Cumulus for several months. Two days ago I checked my station and found a box that said the program was downloading data. After waiting about an hour I tried to quit the program. The only way I could stop the program was to use Task Manager. After stopping the program and restarting it the same thing happened. I tried this three time with the same thing happening. I waited overnight and the box opens as soon as I start the program. I tried to find this problem in the FAQ's but did not see anything. What do I need to do to resolve the problem so that I can run the program?

You probably have the 'USB lockup' problem that Fine Offset stations suffer from (there are many threads about this on the forum). You will probably need to reset the station (remove USB cable and batteries). Recent beta builds of 1.9.3 have an attempted work around for this, if you want to try it. see the Announcements and News section of the forum for details. If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I can confirm that it is the USB lockup problem.

Steve,
I really feel dumb. When you said that it was USB lockup, I went and shut down the computer. After restarting the computer (unlocking the USB) and restarting Cumulus, the program responded correctly. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I really should have thought of shutting down the computer on my own.

Ah, well, that's not actually the problem I thought it was. The infamous Fine Offset USB Lockup problem affects only the station and not the PC, and requires the console to be completely reset. Rebooting the PC has no effect. So I think you had a different problem. Good that it's fixed, anyway, whatever it was.
