weather underground and WOW report errors on new years day

Post by sacmac »

Sincere apologies if this is the wrong place to post this: this is my first post here but I am told it is a helpful forum, so here's hoping!
Cumulus software (brilliant) v1.9.2 (1032) has been sending data successfully from our new VP2 school weather station to WOW and WU for 3 months or so with no snags. At midnight last night both started playing up: Weather Underground started reporting negative rainfall figures at the turn of midnight (-923mm & counting down with further rainfall today) and WOW (met office weather observation website) flat-lined at the same time. I have done a quick check of other weather stations elsewhere and they seem ok. The cumulus pages seem fine. Could this be a problem with my cumulus settings or should I go bark up another tree? It would seem obvious to check WOW and WU but the fact they have both gone awry seems to indicate a problem nearer home. Many thanks for any help you can offer: I'm logging off now but will check any replies tomorrow.

I'm going to change it so that it at least doesn't give a negative value, pending a full solution.

That will be great Steve, thanks very much. Cumulus is really a joy to use :) and this unexpected bug is a tad disappointing for those of us using WU and WOW for further web output. Pending a solution, would it help if I changed the weather day in Cumulus to start at midnight rather than 9am... or is this totally irrelevant?

It would stop the spurious 'rain since midnight' figure being uploaded to WU etc, yes, because with a midnight based day, it can use 'today's rain' instead.

I may have a proper fix in place before next year, though...
