Is this issue potentially resolved with today's 'beta' release?

No, I've heard nothing further from Davis.

Steve, so that you know, I have been using the modified beta release of Cumulus (build 1058) on my development computer without any problem whatsoever - true, I do not have version 3 of the Davis Instruments firmware in either the WeatherLink adapter nor the console.

Do you mean the test version that I linked to earlier in this thread? Do you not find that updates take a lot longer - 8 or 9 seconds? That's what happens on my system (older firmware), and it's also what happened to you the last time I tried this version of the DLL a couple of years ago. Are you connected directly to the console/logger, rather than via VirtualVP?

Indeed, I meant the version that you linked to in a previous message.

As far as the updates (or the time to update) are concerned, I did not notice any slowdowns as I was not looking for slowdowns ... but then, the development computer is quite fast. The weather data for the development computer is still obtained from TCP/IP communications between two VirtualVP.

The only computer connected directly to a console through a WeatherLink adapter (a WeatherLink IP) is the computer running Windows 8 ... but not processing any files (just testing the reliability of an unattended Windows 8).

Status update:

I have received a firmware update from Davis. It is being tested right now. It ran overnight with no more data error messages, so we are hopeful that this solves the problem. I am now testing with the latest 1058 build to make sure the debug build didn't mask anything.

Stay tuned!

The firmware update appears to have fixed the problem. No errors since I installed it. I'm running 1.9.3 build 1058.

I have asked Davis support how we should proceed. No response from them so far. I do not know if the firmware will work with any other hardware combinations other than my VP2 with serial interface. I do not know if they are doing testing on their end or what.

Frustrating to have a solution that can't be freely deployed! I will contact Davis AGAIN.

Sounds good Jim

I have VP2 with #6510USB in serial mode and i get LoadCurrentVantageData_V, error = -32701 several times a day. Worst day i got -32701 error every 15 minutes
Longest Cumulus running time with no -32701 errors is app. 25 hours with VP2 1.90 console firmware and 1.9.3 build 1058. When VP2: LoadCurrentVantageData_V, error = -32701 starts my computer cpu usage is rising up to 25 to 30% and keep it there until Cumulus restarts again. Yes, i have restart if data stops set.

I have tried to change VP2 every usb-port in my computer, change usb cable, uninstall WL, clear all WL register keys from computer, install WL again, update update WL to 6.0.3, updated the Silicon Labs Driver to newest. No help, still got errors -32701 every day.

This is not the same problem. The problem for which Davis have created a new firmware is to fix a problem with firmware version 3. This problem is not present in firmware version 1.90 (I have that firmware and never hit this problem). You have some other communication problem.

Jim, just sent a message to Davis that i'm available to test the firmware change using an Wireless Envoy. Mentioned your name in the message. Let's see what happens!

Thanks for the information!

Ooops, so it is for vesion 3, I am sorry

Yes, it seems so. Data Input Appears To Have Stopped problem goes worse all the time, now cumulus is restarting app. 10-15 mins, but only at daytime. At nights about 10:00PM to 07:00AM no errors at all.

Only two things I have not tried to fix or change is my computer and data logger...

I think I have found a solution to this problem, the problem seems to be Zone Alarm firewall. After removing the Zone Alarm firewall from my computer i have not any LoadCurrentVantageData_V, errors last 23 hours with W7 firewall.

Latest news from Davis --

I asked them when the new firmware would be available to other users and received this response:

"We have not officially released this version yet. However, we will be releasing soon. Once it’s released, it will be available for download from our website. We’re hoping to have it on our site within the next week or two."

Jim/Steve,

Today I received a response on my message regarding the firmware. I Have received a new firmware now, just uploaded it to the envoy, and checking for data errors, currently it is one hore working, without any problems. I will check after this night to see if it has been resolved with this update.

Kind Regards,

Pascal

Steve/Jim,

Unfortunately the firmware I received did not solve the problem, it was a 3.0 firmware. Jim, did you receive another revision 3.01 or something?

Kind Regards,

Pascal
