Re: Multiple Cumulus icons showing
I've noticed that the 'data stopped' errors occur exactly on the minute. This suggests that the problem occurs when Cumulus tries to read the barometer data to calculate 'altimeter pressure' for CWOP, which it does on the minute. There is an ini-file option to disable this, but you will need to install 1.9.3 to use it. If you could do that, please (the download link is in this thread - https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7341) and then edit cumulus.ini: in the [Station] section add a line
DavisCalcAltPress=0
I'm hopeful that this will stop the problem occurring. Once we've confirmed that it does, I can look at changing the code for this (again - it's caused problems in the past).
If you don't actually use CWOP, or you're not bothered about 'altimeter pressure', then assuming this fixes it for you, you can just leave that setting as it is.

Sounds like you may be onto something. It will be late this evening before I can do this upgrade, however.steve wrote:I've noticed that the 'data stopped' errors occur exactly on the minute. Question - will the update overwrite my web templates? Mine are somewhat customized and I just need to know how to properly handle the upgrade.

Re: Multiple Cumulus icons showing
The installer will offer you the option of installing the new templates (overwriting the existing ones), you can 'untick' the option. I recommend you take a backup of yours, though, just in case; I didn't write the installer. The new templates are installed into web/originals for reference.JimDantin wrote:Question - will the update overwrite my web templates? Re: Multiple Cumulus icons showing
I made the changes as you noted. Latest 1.9.3 beta version and changed the line in cumulus.ini. Had the same error show up right away.
I restored Cumulus to the desktop and no more errors were logged for 15+ minutes. I then started running other programs and the errors started showing up. Don't know if that was a coincidence or not.
Here are ZIPed versions of Diag and Debug.log

Re: Multiple Cumulus icons showing
I've been investigating the problem with help from Pascal, see https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8925
The problem occurs because the Davis DLL sometimes takes 2 or 3 minutes to read the current data from the console; so Davis have apparently changed something in firmware 3.00 which leads to this, but at the moment there doesn't seem to be any way forward. A serial port trace might show something.

Re: Multiple Cumulus icons showing
I've found serial port monitor programs, but I don't see how to use one to monitor the communications between Cumulus and the Davis station. If you find something and can explain how to make it work with Cumulus, I'd be happy to try it. This one has a 14 day trial and works with 64 bit Windows 7. When I start it, it says the serial port is already in use.

Re: Multiple Cumulus icons showing
Do you have Cumulus running when you start the monitoring session? Perhaps you have to start the monitor first, and then start Cumulus.

Re: Multiple Cumulus icons showing
I've installed the trial myself (version 4.1) and didn't have any problems. I started up the monitor before Cumulus, selected Session -> New session from the menu, selected the serial port, ticked 'start monitoring now', and clicked 'start monitoring'. I then started Cumulus, and the monitor started showing the traffic.
I tried starting Cumulus first, and then the monitor, and that worked OK too.

I didn't use any settings, there was nowhere to put any in. I just did exactly what I described above.JimDantin wrote:What are the port settings you used?

Running now. I'll wait for some errors and then send you the data. Which of the 4 'Views" should I be using (Terminal, Line, Dump, or Table) Or does it not matter?

Re: Multiple Cumulus icons showing
I don't think it matters; if you upload the .spm file, it looks like I can select whatever view I want regardless of what views you've selected.JimDantin wrote:Which of the 4 'Views" should I be using (Terminal, Line, Dump, or Table) Or does it not matter?
