Hello,
Recieved my first decent weather station yesterday. A WH1090, all up and working with a few hiccups but got there in the end. I've always wanted a way to get my data from the station onto the internet. Im a complete newbie to all this and I have no idea where to start, do you have to pay?, which is the best site?, do you have to leave your computer running constantly? So many questions and i was wondering if anyone could help me. Something like this would be great but no idea where to start :bash: http://www.floodaction.org.uk/weather/freuchie-mill/

Thanks alot

That's the 'standard' Cumulus web site, built in to Cumulus, so it's very easy to set up. So your main issue is getting some hosting. You can get free hosting, but you may find it better to pay for something. There's a page on the wiki with some hosting providers listed: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Webspace

A number of other providers have been mentioned in the forum, if you search on 'hosting' you should find them. You'll also find others that have asked the same question that you're asking.

You don't have to run 24 hours a day, but of course if someone looks at your site while you're not running, they won't get the latest data.

Yeah I have just been reading through other threads on here similar to the one I just made. Do you have to pay for the cumulus one? I like the look of it and am willing to pay in order to get some good hosting :) Thanks

The files and images that make up the web site are generated by Cumulus, so no, you don't have to pay for them. There are also alternative web site setups created by other people, which you might want to look at eventually, and they are also free.

It's just the hosting (a place well connected to the internet, to store your web site files) that you need to pay for (or, rather, ought to pay for, in my opinion, rather than going for free hosting). You will also need a domain name, which you can buy separate from the hosting. There is some more information in the wiki, eg http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Website_setup

I would recommend Vidahost, their Basic package is £17 per year or £29 for two years. See here https://www.vidahost.com/web-hosting/pa ... ic-package

According to their FAQ, 3owl.com don't support .txt files, so using the Cumulus realtime.txt file may be a problem.
