Moon Images

I've bought a weatherstation for the OH for Christmas. I've seen lots of recommendations for Cumulus, and I have to say I'm quite impressed. She will no doubt want weather data on our website, that's no problem given the ease of setting up cumulus, but bandwidth is a pain. It seems to me that a big drain on bandwidth is the moon image, which is uploaded on every update, yet it changes only a little each time and repeats regularly. Couldn't we upload a set of moon images on initial setup, and have the webpage select one of them for display?

Yes, you could use the <#moonphase> or <#moonpercent> web tag to decide which one to display - I believe some people do this. Or you could get the moon image from a 'widget', elsewhere on the web, I've seen some sites with this. Or just leave it out altogether.

It's only about 3% of the total upload size, though, with the 'standard' web site.

There are a few threads on this from memory (here is one https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7657), but these are about image quality, you problem is that Cumulus uploads all the images or none (including the graphs).

If bandwidth is a concern then increase your upload timer - 15 minutes is fine for most practical purposes.

I was going to say that I could understand wanting to change the standard image for that reason; the Cumulus one is rather low resolution, but it was the only suitable component I could find for use with Cumulus.
