Cumulus FAQ & A:
I closed Cumulus, the 'please wait' form appeared, but Cumulus didn't close, even after several minutes
If you've closed Cumulus shortly after it has downloaded a lot of data from the logger, it can take a while for the logging thread to get everything written away to disk, and Cumulus won't close until this has completed. However, in some circumstances, there seems to be a situation where Cumulus will never close, so you will need to close it with task manager. If you think you know what conditions cause this to happen, please let me know.
My problem is opposite from this. As I load the program, it hangs with the "Please Wait" flash screen. I have let this run in the background for a few days like this, coming back to it from time to time, with no entry to the program (all reports are zero's). I could take a screenshot and upload it if you are having problems understanding my situation.
I have re-installed the program on top of itself (Not deleting it first, just over-writing the DIR/), hoping there was a single corrupt file in the directory. Unfortunately, this is not the case, since upon multiple reboots, the program still hangs at the splash screen informing me 'Please Wait' (As it DNLDs data from my WX unit). I have also disconnected and reconnected the USB cables (clearly here the computer reacting to each movement (unplug/re-insertion).
Any ideas here? I figure this occurred on a system reboot, while the program was running in the background, and was not properly shut down by the system for an unrelated issue I encountered.
I have been running Cumulus for more than 4 months now, so this is not a newbie issue. I have rebooted the computer a couple times, with no adverse effects, until now.
