Editing Dayfile.txt

I had problems with my Davis Vantage Pro2 data link to my network and lost 2 days of data to Cumulus. On sorting the problem with the link I then found that Cumulus hadn't downloaded the data and 2 days were missing from my dayfile.txt. I then downloaded the data from my VP2 to Weatherlink and used those values for temperature and rainfall to add to my dayfile.txt. The other (missing) values I left blank.

However, when I now try to look at the NOAA Monthly Report I get an error message "Error at line 474 of dayfile.txt: '' is not a valid floating point value". Line 474 is where I inserted the 2 missing days data. Examining dayfile.txt in Notepad I can't see any " characters.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Peter

The double quote symbol is two single quotes with nothing between them. You may have introduced a blank line, or an empty field? If you can't see the problem, attach the file here.

Thanks Steve.

I used the Dayfile Edit to insert 2 days and then inserted the values from my Weatherlink software. The latter I run from time to time to act as a backup for Cumulus.
Dayfile attached.

You have some 'null' values (empty fields):

13/12/12,,,,2.1,19:30,4.9,01:30,,,,,,,0.2,3.3,,9.4,23:00,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
14/12/12,,,,2.6,01:00,5.7,15:30,,,,,,,14.6,4.7,,14.3,04:30,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

It handles some of the later items being null as they weren't there in older versions. But if the items which have always been there aren't present, it will complain as it is doing, and some things won't work properly.
