Internet settings files

Post by Per69 »

Hi, I having trouble with my page because my files are suddenly missing from the server and there is only a few files left and it's impossible to upload any files.
I have done like this (see the attach) but I think it's wrong?
I have edited the T files and I thought to do like this to save it.
But I suspect the T files are the standard files and will be updated anyhow?
Then I tried to uncheck all boxes and check the "Include standard files" and that worked and I got back the files again.

Regards Per

If you edit the standard files and leave them where they are, then they're still the standard files as far as Cumulus is concerned.

If your path is set corectly there is no need to 'restate' the the destinaton of the 'standard' upload files.

If it doesn't work using the specifically defined paths - that suggests there is something wrong with the update destination path.

However: double jepardy, if you have told Cumulus to upload both 'standard files' and duplicated those in the 'used defined' upload files, then the last ones in are the 'standard files' which will overwrite the same name 'user defined' files.

Thanks Steve and beteljuice.

So maybe that's the trouble with my missing files on the server when the files were uploaded twice at the sametime?

No ...
I would suggest there is something wrong with the way you are defining the way to your "vader" directory in combination with the way you have described your ftp "root".

You say it works with "Include Standard Files" ticked - Is that in the "vader" directory or the one above (root).

Everything is uploaded in relation to your host name ..
So .. if your host name is http://www.mysite.com then that is where the 'Standard Files' will go.
if you have entered "/vader" or perhaps /html_docs/vader (will depend on your host) in the (upload) directory - then that is where the "Standard Files" will go.

If your host has allowed you to to login through host name "www.mysite.com/vader" then life gets interesting :D

That would mean your 'user defined' uploads would have been trying to go to "www.mysite.com/vader/vader" - unless of course your host requires the /html_doc (or similar), in which case, don't even ask where they wanted to go :?

Clear as mud

Was it intentional that you ticked 'realtime'? Do you have realtime enabled?

Hi

Steve:
In "sites/options" I have checked "enable realtime" so I guess I don't have to that in the "files" section?

beteljuice:
My "directory" in "sites/options" I have vader written so you mean I don't have to put that in "files" "remote filenames"?
( vader is another for väder (a with 2 dots over) and means wheather in swedish)

My site is http://www.per69.se/vader/index.htm

But my settings I have showed you before worked for a day or two and then my files were missing and the server was kind of blocked for editing and transfer files with ftp program. But now when I unchecked everything but "include standard files and images" it's working fine.

Thanks anyway for great programs and patience with slow user like me...

Although you were duplicating things, there could be another problem !

You will read elsewhere on the forum, some of the free or cheap hosts are very strict with the amount of upload per hour (or day) and / or the number of times you may connect to upload.

Better check the 'small print' of your provider !
