Files dont upload

Post by OliverCruz »

Buenas tardes

I have a problem with the Cumulus software. From time to time has stopped rising customized files to my hosting FTP. However, files and images Standard Standard crawling continues normally.

What could be the problem?

You are saying that it uploads sometimes, but not every time, yes? Or that it has stopped uploading these files completely?

The best thing to do for ftp problems is to turn on ftp logging and look at the ftplog.txt file.

Yes, turn on FTP logging in the Main Panel.

You may be missing some of the path information for the remote filename.

Cumulus Help says;
Remote Filenames
This column allows you to specify the corresponding name on your web site of each file. You should specify the full path for the file, starting from the point you are at when you log in to your site's FTP server. If the FTP? box is not ticked (see below) then this specifies the file on the local system to which the specified file is to be copied.

You can use the string <currentlogfile> here, and Cumulus will substitute the filename of the current log file (e.g. Jul11log.txt). You still need to specify a full path, ending with <currentlogfile> e.g. html_files/weather/<currentlogfile>

For some reason, Oliver sent me the log privately, but I think your diagnosis is correct:

23:20:12:598 >|250 OK. Current directory is /public_html/cumulus|

The path seems to be missing, as the directory configured for the standard files is /public_html/cumulus. The files are being successfully uploaded to the configured place. If that's not the correct place, then it's hard to see how that could have worked previously.

Also, in the log I was sent, there was no sign of the standard files being uploaded, so I think the situation is not quite as described, and the log does not match the settings in the screenshots (which seem to be identical, or am I missing something?). The log shows the situation where the options to include the standard files and images is unticked.

Thanks for the reply Steve.

The standard file options turn them off, to find the problem easier.

The path where I upload the files is as follows:

http://meteolamatanza.com/cumulus/

But when I go, I find that the files are not uploaded.

You have public_html/cumulus as your ftp directory, so that's where the standard files go, and that is presumably the correct place for them. But for your extra files, as BCJKiwi said, you just have a file name, with no directory. So they get uploaded to the current directory when you log in, and that is presumably what your problem is, as they need to be in public_html/cumulus. For example: public_html/cumulus/informe.html

In my sites/options I have:-
hostname:- silveracorn.co.nz
Directory:- /public_html/weather
These two settings build the full path to the location of realtime.txt
i.e. silveracorn.co.nz/public_html/weather

In the Files screen I have:-
/public_html/weather/filename
This combines with the hostname above to provide the full path and filemane for the destination file.
i.e. silveracorn.co.nz/public_html/weather/filename

Note, I do not need www for my website but you may.
Also note you do not need http://

Hope this helps.
