WS-1090 rain gauge correction factor

I think my rain gauge is indicating lower amounts of rain than is really falling. Has anyone felt the same and applied a suitable correction factor in the calibration table?

What evidence do you have that it's under recording? What have you compared it to?

My concern may be the result of an illusion.
I look out sometimes and see very heavy rain for a period of time but then according to the sensor see that we've only had 2 mm rain during that period.
Yesterday, I checked the rainfall at a nearby airport and found it to be similar to the rainfall at my station. So my gauge is probably ok after all.

It can be surprising how much rain is required to cause even one 0.3mm tip.

I have a WS1090 and I have a problem with the rain gauge showing less rainfall that my other gauge which is the old reliable glass tube.
I think some of the problem is that the sides of the gauge are very short and this allows some of the water to splash out and not enter the gauge and be recorded. I made a small funnel about 1 1/4 inches tall and flares out at 15 degrees. Now the reading is a bit more then my glass tube gauge. I will trim a little bit off of the funnel until both are about equal.
I have had this station for less than a year so still in the learning process.
If this is in the wrong place please let me know.
