Cumulus not updating

Post by Grumpy Moose »

Haven't touched a thing on my station. Then today at 3:55 pm, Cumulus stopped updating from my VP2. Looks like it just no longer reads data from the console in real time. Particularly the wind value will just sit on one number indefinitely, even though the reading on the VP2 console itself fluctuates with the actual wind speed outside as it always has. Starting and stopping Cumulus, as well as rebooting the computer seem to have no effect. Sometimes Cumulus will read a wind speed from the console once when it first starts, sometimes it will just sit at 0.0/calm forever.

If I shut down Cumulus and start up VWS (on the same com port) all readings fluctuate in real time just like normal. But the main Cumulus panel just looks static. Nothing changes.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm stumped.

So, apparently the cause seems to be that Steve must have programmed Cumulus with an interesting sense of humor - determined to make a fool out of me! Within minutes of placing the above post, everything started working again just like normal - with absolutely no action from me - I was too busy typing the post on my other machine.

Total downtime was around 90 minutes, during which time multiple shutdowns and reboots had no effect. Apparently Cumulus has its own time and won't be rushed! :D

If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll take a look.
