ImportCumulusFile expected data & questions

Post by thekow »

Hi there

Just wondering what data is expected for the monthly type for the import.php. Is this the month.ini from the data directory?
or do i just import the realtime.txt at 24 hour periods. I am trying to figure out how to get some historical data happening. I have the realtime cumulus running. But i guess we need data for a monthly and yearly graphing. So how to go about that. Import dayfile every day (for a monthly table) or realtime data and calculate from that?

I will release a template once all the data is up and running.

Depends on what you want to do...

dayfile
Importing dayfile.txt every 24 hours after your daily roll over is probably the most commonly held data. From this you can produce most of your daily and record stats.

monthly
If you you want more detailed data within each day, then the monthly log files (e.g. dec12log.txt) will give you data at the resolution of your logging interval. If you only want data 'up to' today, then this can be imported every 24 hours after the daily roll over.

realtime
Capture your realtime.txt at whatever interval you want. For Fine Offsets this would have a sensible minimum interval of 1 minute. Note that this table will grow rapidly in size, so you will probably need to implement some form of house keeping to delete or archive older data. I just keep a rolling 2 hours worth of data - but in a flat file for now.
