Cumulus Support

In the internet Settings I set Realtime interval 10 secs.
Davis Vatage Pro updates any 5 seconds.
After opening Cumulus Realtime, no updates are shown.
What did I do wrong?

Your realtime.txt file isn't updating (although it had updated very recently when I first looked at it). If you turn on ftp logging, wait a couple of minutes, and then attach the realtimeftplog.txt file here, that might throw some light on the problem.

I turned on FTP logging, waited for 5 minutes before recalling Cumulus Realtime. No updating.
Restarted Cumulus, same as above.

I can see that it is updating, but only occasionally, not every 10 seconds. What does the realtimeftplog.txt show?

I can't see any errors in there; it is apparently successfully uploading the file every 10 seconds, so I don't know why your web server doesn't reflect that.

I note that you have 'delete before upload' set; it's better not to use that, but to use 'rename' instead. But some (broken, IMO) ftp servers don't' support that, and do require 'delete before upload', so perhaps that's why you have it set. Perhaps you could show screen shots of both tabs of your internet settings?

It looks like some kind of caching issue; I thought it was odd that each time I've looked at your page it had just updated successfully. I looked in Chrome just now and got a realtime.txt with this timestamp:

05-12-12 14:36:42

Refreshing didn't change it. I then looked at the file in IE and got this timestamp:

05-12-12 14:41:32

So it had actually updated, even though I can't see it in Chrome. Refreshing both browsers gives the same timestamp each time (i.e. a different timestamp in each).

I'm afraid I don't know what you can do about that other than talk to your service provider.

Maybe there's something wrong with Silverlight. IE9 and Safari show error messages when I call Realtime. I don't want to use Chrome, because I love my privacy.

Your settings look fine (although as I said, you should use 'rename' instead of 'delete' if your server allows it).

The problem is that your web server is returning an http code of 304 when asked for the realtime.txt file. That code means that the server says the file has not been modified since the browser last requested it, but in fact it has been modified.

I had to restore my settings. Without, my home page didn't show recent data.
The host I use is a free-of-charge server we got with our licence from KPN, the former state Telecom Company. I think they offer limited service.
My gliding club uses a professional one for their main site: 123host. This site runs under Wordpress. It proved to be impossible to incorporate Cumulus. So we decided to use KPN.
I'm afraid, we have to live with this handicap.

Definitely looks like an IIS7 aggressive caching problem - from Google it looks like it is 'known' for it.
