transmitter not working

hi, i have a slight problem my WH3081 has died well maybe! . Problem is that when plug in wind and rain connections to transmitter doesnt receive on the display but when i pull out the rain one it works giving me readings . NEED HELP .

Hi,

There's no logical reason why that should happen, so it's possibly just the well-known issue of FO's poor assembly quality. Clean the battery contacts and remove/insert the cable plugs and the batteries perhaps a little "roughly" - maybe the problem will get either better or worse!

It's just possible that the cable is modifying the wireless signal path in some way, but I'm afraid it's probably necessary to repeat your tests several times to see if the the fault does occur absolutely consistently in the way that you have described. It's very easy to jump to incorrect conclusions about the behaviour of the wireless part of the system.

I am having the same problem.
I have a WS-1090 solar Weatherwise station.

If you've tried everything, then I think the next step is to contact the supplier for a replacement.

Did contact the supplier and they sent me a new base unit and a new transmitter.
Still have the same problem.

Here is the whole story. Weatherwise WS-1090 Solar
The rechargeable batteries that came with the weather station would not charge when installed. So I bought two new rechargeable batteries and charged them with a charger first. Within a week the batteries were dead. I could not get radio communication between the receiver and the transmitter until I charged the batteries again.

The other problem I am having is that the outside temp is erratic. I found someone on the Cumulus forum that was having the same problem. They were told to unplug either the rain sensor or the wind sensor. I unplugged the wind sensor and everything worked fine. As soon as I plugged the wind sensor in the out side temperature would keep changing from over 100 degrees to below zero. This would happen every time there was a radio transmission.

I changed locations of the transmitter several times all with in 25 feet of the receiver.

As you can see from this post https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.p ... 33&start=9 it is best not to use "rechargable batteries" as they produce inconsistant voltages.

Best batteries to use are those suggested Lithium AA cells (available from Maplins). I have used them and they are very good and continue to work through this cold spell we are having.

It sounds as if you have (at the least) a faulty wind sensor, which is not a "common" problem. It can affect the external temperature because they use the same A/D converter in the transmitter module (a "new" value will only be displayed after each radio transmission).

My advice: Unplug the Slolar Pod and ignore it, at least for now. Put a fresh pair of standard (NOT rechargeable) Alkaline cells into the transmitter unit and plug in wind and rain sensors. If the batteries fail within a few weeks (or any time less than a year) then something is faulty. You could repeat the test with sensors unplugged to help "locate" the fault, but returning/replacing everything might be the best solution.

If you have "problems" with the supplier then we can help you through further "detection" of the fault at a later date if necessary.
