"downloading data" freeze, hang
I am using an ambient WS-1080 and have experienced the "downloading data" freeze, hang. The station worked flawlessly for months, then started to freeze at the "downloading data" screen. I could easily remedy this with a restart of the console but now that has stopped working. It freezes every single time I start the software with now way to resolve. Very frustrating. I have reinstalled cumulus to to no avail. I have not "uninstalled" because I really don't want to lose the dozens of settings programed into the software. The frustrating part is that it worked so well for so long but now does not work at all. I have searched this forum quite extensively and there does not seem to be a definitive solution. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm surprised that a full reset of the console (remove batteries, disconnect USB cable) doesn't get it going again. If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll take a look.

By the way, uninstalling doesn't lose your settings, they're all in the cumulus.ini file, which the uninstaller doesn't remove. But an uninstall/reinstall is unlikely to fix any problem anyway.

Yeah, my usual unplug USB and remove the bat no longer works. No sure how to find the diags folder but I will do a little digging in the forum to figure out how to get it to you. I am suspicious of the power to the USB and am going to try a new set of batteries in the console to see if that that helps.

It does sound like something is broken, sadly.

This station has been running for months so it seems like there should be more in the diags folder but what there is, is attached.

It's some kind of USB problem, but that's all I can say, I'm afraid. I don't know if it's a problem with the PC or the station:

Re: "downloading data" freeze, hang
Yours is not the same, you didn't get the 'failed to write to USB' error. Your problem could well just be the usual Fine Offset 'stops responding' problem. Did it recover after restarting Cumulus, or did you have reset the console?babewalley wrote:Same thing happening to me! coincidence?
