Wind Chill calculation being off?

Post by Skippy »

Is there a way to change how the cumulus software calculates wind chill factor? It's off on mine for some reason and I can't figure out why....

No, sorry. Cumulus uses the formula that is now in most common use. There's more information and a link in the wiki: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Wind_chill

What makes you think it's off? In what way?

It's not right with Weather underground's calculation of the wind chill. I also searched out a wind chill calculator online and put the numbers in. The website calculator came out with the same value as Weather Underground. Could I have a setting off somewhere?

EDIT:

As of right now, I have 22.4F outside with a 5mph wind. The wind chill value is the same, but it should be somewhere around 15-16F? It's always showing higher than other calculations....

With a temp of 22.4F and a wind speed of 5mph, Cumulus would calculate a wind chill of 15.8F.

Are you sure that 5 mph is the current wind speed and not the latest gust?

Please attach a screen shot demonstrating the problem, showing the left hand side of the Cumulus main screen (the 'outdoor' and 'wind' panels).

We'll have to wait on that for now: My wind speed has dropped to calm. But at the first chance I get, I'll post a screenshot.

That's the latest gust. See http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#What_d ... tations.3F

Your current wind speed is 1 mph, hence your wind chill is the same as your temperature.
