Question with monthly log file to correct rain data

Hi Steve

I had a problem with my rain readings. Last night we had a big storm with a large amount of heavy rain and for about an hour until the rain eased the gauge did not send the figures. I checked the diags files comparing “WS2300: current rain counter (RainCountRef) from station” and it seemed to actually measure the rain.

My question in in regard to editing the monthly log file so the log file reflects the amount of rain as the gauge missed 42.5mm of rain out of 50.2mm in the storm. How should be done? I would think I would have to increase the total counter column to a higher value for today, and increase the total rain today also. Is this correct? Any ideas would be most helpful. For the daily totals I know I need to edit the dayfile.

We also did get a big storm earlier in the day with 11 mm in 10 minutes but it coped well with that.
Thanks in thanks any assistance regarding this problem.

The 'total counter' figure only affects things like 'rain in last 24 hours', so after while it doesn't matter anyway. You can edit the 'total so far today' figure if you want, but that only shows up on graphs. Once the day has gone, the only really important figure is the total for the day in dayfile.txt.

Thanks Steve. I am doing this to correct the graphs as it was a major storm with high rain rates. I am not interested in the figures that will disappear in a day or two.
