@ Steve,
Sorry, I was focused on sorting the script and now realise I missed your post entirely.
I have had another look at the Wiki and it seems a separate login for the wiki is required so have requested one.

I had assumed there would be some sort of script vetting process, and that it would not be good form to just edit someone else's data, however I guess that is the nature of a wiki so will give it a go.

Have found another minor glitch in the code to do with the concatenated data which I am trying to sort out so will not update the wiki until that is sorted.

Sorry to trouble you Steve as I appreciate you are busy.

I am unable to find how or where to upload a .zip file so it can be downloaded from the Wiki.
I see it is not an allowed file type in the Wiki system and see the other .zip file links point to the Cumulus website and use the arrow indicator so are (I presume) an 'external' file.

So how does one upload a file to (and what is) the right place?

Thanks

Steve - Thank you for permitting me to update Wiki. It is very timely of you, as although my life is happily a very busy one recently, I am expecting some idle moments soon.

All - I have successfully made a minor update, have a couple* of more sizable contributions almost ready to add (linked to the existing requests in the Wiki), and some further ideas in my head (linked to forum activity). EDIT: * these have been added now.

I'm afraid I know virtually nothing about how the wiki works; I hacked the database to make myself an admin (which is how I processed your registration), and then made Mark an admin too, as he wanted to upload a file, but being an admin didn't help. I gave him the ftp details so he could do it that way, but I can't do that for everyone. We're looking into how we change it so files can be uploaded.

Is the answer here: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Co ... le_uploads - zip is not currently in the allowed file types.

Yep, zip files are prohibited by mime type, the risk is that they can be Java jar files and thus indirectly executable which is generally a bad thing. If we take the view that we control the user access then compressed uploads could be allowed, the alternative is to send these type of files (and script files, which even with a .txt file extension are scanned for script content and barred) to one of the admins for upload. I don't think there will be huge numbers, so maybe this is the best route?

I think so, yes.

I understand the need for security.
However, sending them to an admin for upload complicates the process.
You can't really add/edit/change the wiki unless the file is already there and then if there is any minor change you want to make involving the file, the file has to be re-sent via the admin again.

Steve,
Did we ever finalise the method required to update/submit .zip files to the Wiki?

Thanks

At the moment you will have to send them to Mark or myself. If I get a minute I might look at allowing them to be an allowed upload type, if I can work out how that's done.
