I am also using t35.com, and have noticed the same thing. Many FTP timeouts yesterday and a few today.
Thought it was just me, somewhat comforting to know it has happened to others. Cannot explain.

Thank you for letting me know that you are getting the same. I have also noticed that when it happens I can not log into my t35 account.

Thanks for the info yes it does look that way I have sent a message to t35.com and this is what they said You are probably being blocked by the firewall for logging in too often.. Free hosting isn't designed for so many connections per account per ip.. that monapolizes the resources that are shared amongst the other free hosting members.

You might want to upgrade to paid hosting if you need a more dedicated ftp server..

So I am just doing test now to see how long it can before it timesout I have set the uploads to be 10mins and 20sec to see if that works

I will let you now how I get on.

That's a shame - it was looking like t35 would be a good place for Cumulus sites. If they told you what the connection limit was, you could set your upload interval appropriately.

Hi Steve,
Yes it is a shame, No they did not say what the upload interval connection limit is.

Steve after I have updated the upload time do I have to close down Cumulus then restart it?

Many Thanks for any Info.

You don't need to restart, it will just start the new interval from the point where you change it.

I have just had a reply back from t35.com the fist part is what I said and second part is what they said.

Please can you tell me what connection download/upload limit is please?

For free hosting there is a 18k/s (180kbs) upload limit and a limit on how many times you can connect per hour and how many concurrent connections you can have.

So from that it does not look very good does it for Weather websites?

Hmm, that does sound pretty restrictive. Even if the only file uploaded is the realtime data you will probably 'burst' that.

My xml realtime file that contains ALL of the data from the webtags is currently 42KB. It is possible to design web pages that remain static and require only this file to regularly uploaded. And its possible to slim the 42KB down further by omitting the wind speed and direction array data. It might just be possible to get this to sneak under the barrier.

Is it worth looking at?

[Edit]
Cutting the csv data out reduces the size to under 32KB...

Hi all,
another newbie here,Ive had problems with T35.com and I have now switched to a good site in drivehq.com. No ads and very nice interface for ease of use. I believe that the limit on this site without subscribing is about 1.5Gigs check it out, it has some very good features.
all the best,
birchy.

Hi All,
I been doing some test with t35.com and have found that when I set use active ftp mode ticked and the uploads set at interval 15 mins and realtime interval set at 10 seconds, I do not get any more time outs.
