I had to reset my Fine Offset base station today (it freezes now and again). After reconnecting the USB cable and then re-starting Cumulus, a daily rainfall total of 537mm was calculated!
Does anyone have any ideas why this would have happened?
Also, is there a clever way of knowing that Cumulus has detected an error in the first place....like an email alert that something has gone wrong? I leave Cumulus running on a spare laptop...so it would be really useful to know when an error has occurred.
Many thanks!

Re: Rain error when Cumulus restarted
Resetting the console shouldn't have reset the rain counter as that's in the transmitter, so it should have carried on from the previous value. It may have picked up an old lower value of the rain counter due to the reset, before it got the correct current one again. If you want me to look at it, please zip up the diags folder and attach it.

Re: Rain error when Cumulus restarted
It looks like the rain counter appeared to get reset to zero as part of the problems you were having prior to the reset. But after the reset it started getting the correct value again. It would normally cope with a jump in the rain counter and ignore it, but it looks like it was still in the process of deciding what to do (it takes several readings over a period of a minute or so) when you manually edited the total, and it then got confused.
The strange thing is that the total rain counter is apparently back at 0.9 now, having been 537.3 previously. Have you reset the transmitter?

Re: Rain error when Cumulus restarted
Once I saw the rainfall total come up as 537, I edited "Today's Rain" back to zero and then reset the base station.
Hopefully everything is OK now. If I have to reset the base station again in the future, I'll leave it a little longer to sort itself out....
Many thanks again.

Re: Rain error when Cumulus restarted
Yes, I got this when upgrading Cumulus from v1.9.2 to v1.9.3 and all I had to do was shut down Cumulus v1.9.3 and then move the data folder from the Cumulus v1.9.2 folders to the Cumulus v1.9.3 folders.hystrix wrote:I had to reset my Fine Offset base station today (it freezes now and again).
