Cumulus High Wind not updating

Post by Giblets »

At long last I have today got my Vue connected up to the pooter with belfryboy's data logger but I have noticed that the High Wind reading in the Extremes box has not updated even though the actual windspeed as shown in the Wind box changes quite readily. The HW rate appears stuck on 3 mph at the time that I first started Cumulus even though the windspeed has been above that been well above that on a few occasions today. All the other parameters in the Extreme box are updating correctly.

Also I have had the Vue running on it's own (with the datalogger fitted but not connected to the pooter) for the past few months so it has recorded a fair amount of data. Is there any way I can get Cumulus to access and download this data or do the extremes have to be input manually?

TIA

Do you have Cumulus set to calculate the average speed, or are you taking it from the station?

Could you do two things, please:

1. Zip up the diags folder and attach it, along with your today.ini file.
2. Attach a screen shot of the main Cumulus window at the time it is showing the problem.

Steve, things seem to have settled down now with the various parameters in the Recent Extreme box now updating so I will see how things go over the next few days. Thanks for your help.

Not too sure what you mean by having Cumulus set to calculate the average speed. How would I know this. I do have the "Calculate 10-min wind average" box checked.

One further question - in the Recent Extremes box do I assume that the High Wind reading and the High Gust reading would, in fact, be the same in terms of reading and time recorded?

Yes, that's the one. On Davis stations it doesn't (shouldn't) make any difference anyway, as the station supplies a 10-minute average (from live data).

They don't necessarily occur at exactly the same time, and probably won't, in fact. You can have a sudden high gust when the wind is otherwise relatively calm; and even if the high gust occurs around the same time as the high average speed, there's no reason for them to have exactly the same timestamp.
