To whomever can help,
I am newbie and I am looking for some help. I am using Cumulus v1.9.3 and I am not getting good info for the wx station data on APRS. The wxnow.txt file is showing the date of 10/12/12. I am very much at a loss on how to get the software running correctly. The owner of aprsis32 has been helping but I have been advised that I have too many aprsis32.xml files. I did have 4 , aprsis32.xml files in aprs but have pulled them aside.
I am using a Davis Vantage Pro by serial port.
If I am posting this in the wrong area, please advise me.
Thank you for the help.
Keith

I don't know anything about APRSIS32, but Cumulus recreates the wxnow.txt file once a minute by default, unless switched off by putting CreateWxnowTxt=0 in the [Station] section of cumulus.ini. Are all your other 'periodic' Cumulus functions working correctly, e.g. plotting the graphs and writing to the log files? Are all of your sensors working correctly? Cumulus doesn't perform periodic tasks until it has received data from the barometer and the outside temperature sensor.

Re: Anyone using APRSIS32 with Cumulus ?
Hi Steve,
Sorry on my delay, I am on staycation, enjoying the chill time.
I did a search for the file name and CreateWxnowTxt is at zero, not sure how it was done. But what could I have done without knowing it to put the file to zero?
Yes, all the functions, graphs, and displays are working correctly.
What do you suggest to fix the file?
Also, would it be possible to ask you to team up with the owner of APRSIS32 ( Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE for Windows Mobile and Win32) to work out any bugs?
What is APRS: In short, APRS ( Automatic Packet Reporting Station) is a communications technology that Ham Radio operators use to communicate by radio or internet. We are a valued resource to the NWS by beaconing our wx station data to be monitored and used in the wx forecast, etc.
Thank you for your help and I am looking forward to fixing this item.

Cumulus has no code in it to write that item; I can't think of any way for it to get there other than by manual edit.n4trn wrote:I did a search for the file name and CreateWxnowTxt is at zero, not sure how it was done. But what could I have done without knowing it to put the file to zero?
Stop Cumulus and edit cumulus.ini; remove that entry (or set it to 1).What do you suggest to fix the file?
I'm happy for Lynn to contact me if there are problems with the wxnow.txt file that Cumulus creates. There was a problem some time ago with the encoding of temperatures below zero Fahrenheit, but I'm not aware of any bugs currently. Also, would it be possible to ask you to team up with the owner of APRSIS32 ( Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE for Windows Mobile and Win32) to work out any bugs?
Yes, Cumulus itself allows uploads into that system via CWOP; but I understand that Amateur Radio operators have other routes in, which is the reason for the wxnow.txt file. What is APRS: In short, APRS ( Automatic Packet Reporting Station) is a communications technology that Ham Radio operators use to communicate by radio or internet. Re: Anyone using APRSIS32 with Cumulus ?
Hi Steve,
I change the setting to a zero or one. No difference. I am showing a temp of 76 when it is 67 outside.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Keith

You restarted Cumulus after editing cumulus.ini, yes? (Or edited it with Cumulus stopped?) Is the wxnow.txt file in the Cumulus folder being updated?
