Re: davis weather stations
They shouldn't interfere. I have a FO running alongside a VP2, and I also have a WMR200 set up indoors. But if you switch back and forth using the same data you will get odd rain readings that need correcting.

Hi Ray & Steve thanks for all you help and advice last night I have just come of the phone now with Prodata and my VP2 is in the post, I will have it on Friday.
I have downloaded the manual for it so I am able to have a read about it before it comes.
I will speak to you later any advice on the set up would be appreciated.

Geoff,
I'm sure you'll love the VP2. And the manual is written very well so you should have no problems assembling the station.
What did you decide about mounting the anemometer?

Re: davis weather stations
Hi Ray My Pro 2 came today I have not started the instillation as yet going out to shop 2mos to get new pole and wall bracket I have have not decided how to mount the Anemometer yet either on the side of the rain bucket for ease of fixing that would make both 7ft of the roof and that will make the pair 18ft of the floor the other idea was to fit the bucket on the shed roof and have just the anemometer on the top of the pole 7ft away from the bucket you already having the same system what do you think.
The other thing is although I am not putting the station up until 2moz is it ok getting the software on to the pc tonight.

Re: davis weather stations
Geoff,
Neither sounds ideal if I'm honest. The VP2 comes with a 50ft anemometer cable. You need to utilise that to mount the anemometer as close to 33ft as you can. Mine has been up on the chimney for 3.5 years and hasn't needed any maintenance. It also ensures your wind readings are as accurate as possible.
The ISS should ideally be around 4-5ft above ground level. That's to ensure your rain measurements and temperature readings are accurate.
Maybe you can use the services of an aerial installer to mount the anemometer as high as you can. If you live in a house with a gable end that should make attaching a pole to that end reasonably easy maybe using an aerial installer.
Perhaps you can post photos of your property so we can better see your options.

Re: davis weather stations
Geoff, I wish I lived in a bungalow! That makes things so much easier for you.
This is my anemometer setup. You can see it's well above the roof line to avoid wind eddies. About 6-8ft is recommended. You can also see the anemometer transmitter below the bathroom window. That transmits data back to the console but plugging your anemometer into the ISS achieves the same thing.

Re: davis weather stations
Hi Ray just had a look out back I have in the region of a 20ft pole I figure this on the side of the shed
at the end of the garden with anemometer on top and the bucket have the way down that should
work fine that would make the anemometer about 29 to 30ft high and the bucket half of that with plenty
of clearance all around keeping in mind that there is nothing but fields behind us.

Re: davis weather stations
Geoff,
I hope that pole isn't so heavy it will remove your shed in a gale!
Remember too you need to clean the ISS at least twice a year so easy access is important.

Re: davis weather stations
Geoff,
You enjoy a very open aspect. I'm envious. You just need to be aware of winds coming from the direction of your bungalow and position the ane high enough.
