Last data logger record not being read

Post by foxyweather »

Hi

I have been having problems with Cumulus not reading the last record from my Davis Vantage Vue data logger, when Cumulus is started each time.
Assume the data log interval is set to 15 minutes on both the data logger and in Cumulus
Assume the time is 15:12 and the last entry read was at 14:30 according to the today.ini file.
When Cumulus is started it will read the record for 14:45, but will fail to read the last record for 15:00.
At this point the today.ini file records the last record read as 14:45, and the Oct12log.txt file contains the record for 14:45.
When the clock ticks over to 15:15, the today.ini file records the last record read as 15:15, and the record for 15:15 appears in Oct12log.txt.
However no record for 15:00 appears in the Oct12log.txt.
From then on Cumulus works fine until it is shut down and started again.

I have compare the time on my PC and the Davis console and they are the same.
I have tried ticking and un-ticking the Synchronise Davis clock to PC.
I have tried setting the time on the Davis console to 5 second to 1 minute ahead of the PC, with the Synchonise option un-ticked.
However one thing I noticed whist playing around with this is that with the Synchonise option ticked, it sets the clock on the Davis console 45 seconds behind that of the PC. Is this due to you getting the PC some time before you actually set the time on the Davis consolue.

Anyway, I hope you can help me with the above, as it is frustrating having to rewind the today.ini file each day to capture the records that are missed.

It's not Cumulus. At start up, Cumulus asks for all of the logger entries since a particular date and time (the time of the last entry in its logs). The latest one is always missing (it's missing in the count that gets returned too). It has always been this way; I assume it is an issue with the Davis DLL that I use. There's nothing I can do about it, sorry.

The clock setting command only allows hours and minutes to be specified, so Cumulus uses the current hour and minute. A small enhancement would be to use the nearest minute, and I may do that change at some point.

Hi Steve

Thanks for your quick reply.
You mention that it is the Davis DLL you are using, is this the very latest?
When I download the data with the Davis WeatherLink software it downloads the latest data okay.
The WeatherLink version is 6.0.2

I'm not using the latest DLL because there were issues with the previous version. It takes quite a bit of work to switch to a new DLL and then make sure it works OK. I will look into it at some point when I am feeling better.

I don't think Weatherlink uses the DLL; it's for third party software.
