Transferring historical data of WD to Cumulus
Does anyone know whether there exist a tool for migrating/transferring historical data of Weather Display to Cumulus?
Otherwise it is kind of not interesting to move to Cumulus though it looks great.

I really don't know. I could upload some but even then I doubt you would have all info. How do the "Weather display" files looks like ?
Best is to have somebody who knows WD but if anybody would seriously be interested I could post some datafiles.

Re: Transferring historical data of WD to Cumulus
Presumably the format of the WD data logs is documented somewhere?

Re: Transferring historical data of WD to Cumulus
I did not find any documentation, but I did find the original datafiles. I enclose those for may 2011.
Would that be enough? How to transfer these to cumulus? Hope this helps.

As the files have headings for the columns included, at first glance it doesn't look like it would be too hard a job to convert them.

Had a quick look at your data files.HansR wrote:I did not find any documentation, but I did find the original datafiles. I enclose those for may 2011.

As Steve says, they all have headings explaining what the columns are (but not in which units...
The 52011lg.txt file contains basic weather info, and it wouldn't take me long to build a conversion program to turn it into a Cumulus monthly log file. Quite a few fields would be empty/0, though, e.g. inside temp & humidity.
Would you like me to do it, or would you rather stick with WD?
The other files are mainly to do with sun hours, UV, soil temp, etc. Including data from these files into Cumulus monthly/daily files would be a rather more complex conversion job, having to synchronise multiple files. Not something I'd offer to do unless you really really wanted that additional data.

I thought that you were going to interfere.laulau wrote:Hi "Dane" perhaps a jop (hobby?)for you ?
And I want to thank you for those that you helped to pass to Cumulus helping them convert their data.

Re: Transferring historical data of WD to Cumulus
Hello Dane,
Thanks for the offer and yes, after playing with Cumulus a bit I decided to try a migration.
I would be grateful if you could help me here.
I did send 4 logfiles. Looking closer I think only two of those are important :
1 - [month][year]lg.txt containing data for which you say these won't be a problem.
2 - [month][year]vantagelog.txt which contains solar radiation and UV. The other fields are not important for me. The UV field is less important. Having the solar radiation data transferred would be very helpfull. However, if that would be far too much work I could live with loss of those data. So I would appreciate your second thought on the solar radiation field (and possible consequences in Cumulus during import which I can't oversee).
If you would like to help, send me a pm and I'll give you my email address, we can work from there on how to do it.
Thanks for the offer!

Re: Transferring historical data of WD to Cumulus
I think I must report here the successful transfer of Weather Display data to Cumulus by Dane as per today.
I had four year of data and a subset of the main log and the solar data was used. The dataset was a mess in the sense that timestamps were duplicated end we decided on an error handling in the sense that the last data with a timestamp would be the one transferred to cumulus.
History is now accessible on cumulus.
Well done and thanks @Dane!
