Cloud Base

Hi Steve,

Any chance of getting the cloud base (from the web page) onto the main Cumulus window? Also, is it possible to select the unit (m or ft)?

I suppose with a little bit of adjustment, there's room below the pressure. But it's really just a novelty item, like the forecast. If I start drawing attention to it, I'll just get complaints about it being wrong ;)

It displays in the same units that you've chosen for your station altitude; that seemed reasonable to me?

I've been a bit curious about this myself. How is it 'guestimated'?

There is a prominent hill at my location with an altitude of around 500 metres that has been used for weather predictions for centuries. (When you can see the top of the hill; it is going to rain and when you can't; it is raining).

The cloud base result does seem to be about right within the range of 50 to 500 metres just based on observation.

It's 1000 feet for every 4.5 F difference between temperature and dew point.

Can you put an option in something like: "display cloud base (this is an approximation!)"... that way only people that want to see it will see it and everyone else who might complain that something isn't correct can leave it off ;)

I'll understand completely if you don't want to put it on the main page :)

How about: I make it an ini-file option (much easier to implement), and I display it up top near the sunrise stuff (I seem to have created a gap there, squeezing in the twilight stuff)?

That'd suit perfectly.

Speaking of ini files and in the wrong thread......how about something to make the date format stay as 12 hour. Sometimes it stays when restarting, sometimes reverts to 24 hour.

The setting is just saved in the ini file like all the others - it may be a bug in the clock component... I'll have a look.

I've added the cloud base option in build 803 (I made it a 'proper' option in the display settings).

I've also changed slightly the code that sets the clock to 12-hour at start up, to see if it makes any difference.

Could somebody tell me where I can set the cloud base to feet rather than meters?

(I did try the help file)

As I recall, it'll reflect whatever units of measure you already have set up. In other words, if you've set your station altitude in feet, the cloud height will use that same unit.

is there a way of getting the values of the cloudbase on the gauges webpage synchronized with the new cloudbase on the main program screen?
(like all the other gauges)
i know that it isn,t in the realtime.txt.

not a big issue,just wondering.

Synchronized? It uses the same value and gets updated every web update, same as the other gauges.

my cloudbase at the gauges page doesn't get updated,so maybe one of my files is broken.
do i need to upload one of the xx.js files?
every other gauge works fine.
