Ah, I see.
do i need to upload one of the xx.js files?
every other gauge works fine.
The javascript code for it is in the same file as the others; you just need the cloudbase.gif file. The gauge gets its value from a javascript variable in the gauges.htm file:

var cloudbase = "454 m";

I can't think of any reason for that variable not to get the correct value (it uses the <#cloudbase> tag in the template.

I've just had a look at your site, and you have temp = 7.7C = 45.9F, dp = 5.7C = 42.3F, cloudbase = 253m. (1000/4.4)*3.6 = 818 ft = 249m. So there's a slight discrepancy, maybe a rounding error somewhere. I'll have a look at the code. Mine is zero at the moment, so that doesn't help!

NB - the calculation in Cumulus uses 4.4, not 4.5 as I said earlier.

yes,i know about the discrepancy,that doesn't bother me.
the cloudbase this morning reads 253 meters,also yesterday and also at this moment.
this morning the value on the main screen was 500-something and now it it 955 meters,it works ok on the main screen,only the value on the site looks frozen.
i'll update the xx.js files on the site from your latest build,maybe that will work,can't do any harm

nope,no good.
i replaced every js-file,cloudbase.gif,weatherstyle,the swf file.

The problem appears to be that your web pages aren't updating, not just the cloud base. I hadn't noticed the date - 15th March!

yes,i know,does the gauges page need to?
because the cloudbase is not in the realtime.txt?
for all the other values it works fine,i have only realtime.txt updated.

turned on "incluid standard files",now it works.

thanks for your help!

The gauges page has to be uploaded just like all the others; the values in there are just web tags that get translated and supply the values for the javascript variables.
for all the other values it works fine,i have only realtime.txt updated.
The other gauges on that page are exactly the same as the cloud base one; they don't use realtime.txt, a new version of the page has to be uploaded for the values to change.

I've also changed slightly the code that sets the clock to 12-hour at start up, to see if it makes any difference.

Great! Thanks for that Steve.

You'll have to excuse me though for being a little picky but it is getting slightly crowded up there now...for example the Moon Phase text impacts the 'Dawn' heading.

Is there any way you could tidy this up a bit please - maybe centralise the moon phase text across two lines underneath the picture?

Make the text black to match the rest of the legends and the colour of the moon phase picture?

Tell me to bugger off and mind my own business? :lol:

That would keep it looking good IMHO...but then you know how particular I can be when it comes to presentation... :oops:

Thanks & kind regards,

Looks fine on my server (at 1024x768).

But, yes, I thought that, as soon as I'd added the twilight stuff that it wasn't ideal up there.

Not really enough space because of the forecast.

It may not be obvious from the name (although the fact that it's all the same colour is a bit of a clue) but the 'heading colour' setting changes all of the text up top. Or did you mean just make the moon phase text black to distinguish it from the rest (assuming that hasn't been set to black anyway!)?

Steve, please could we have an independant way of setting the height to metric or imperial?

Really? I just dragged it onto my other monitor at 1024 x 768 and it still looks cramped.

It seems to read 'Waning Crescent Dawn' - see attached picture - although that was snipped from a 1280 x 1024 screen it still impacts 'Dawn'

Poor old Dawn... ;)

The twilight stuff is fine...please don't take that away!

There seems to be plenty of room - I have my forecast centred...<thinks>...we are talking about the Cumulus program screen and not webpages here aren't we? ;)

Err...I know the heading colour changes all of the text up top. I did just mean the Moon Phase text changing to match the other legend text (Outdoor, Temp, trend etc. etc.

Can you see what I mean from the attached picture?

It seems to read;
'Waning Crescent Dawn'

Where if the moon phase text was over two lines it would read;

'Waning 'Dawn'
Crescent'

If you see what I mean... :lol:

Thanks for listening...as always!

have that too.(Screenres=1280x800).

but i also see that the moontext is a bit different.

maybe it is possible to have the text(waning crescent) above the moonpicture.

thanks for your patience with us :)

The text box is still there even if you have the forecast centred. And the VP2 forecasts are typically much longer than the Cumulus-generated ones, occasionally wrapping onto two lines. I'm not sure there's enough room for the longest ones if I shift the forecast text box over to the right, which is what I'd have to do to put the moon phase on two lines.

I'll change the colour of the moon phase text to black, pending further suggestions...

Aahhh...I didn't think of the longer forecasts from the VP2...I was too busy (selfishly) thinking of my own display... :oops:

Better not mess with the VP2 display or else I'll only be back complaining when I do finally end up with the Davis! :lol:
